Creating engaging and immersive user interface that catered to different visual styles and preferences within a cyberpunk survival aspect.
The goal of the Future Fugitives project was to design two distinct console game interface for the same game concept.
The challenge was to create engaging and immersive user interface that catered to different visual styles and preferences within a cyberpunk survival aspect.
This aligned with the strategy of providing diverse gaming experiences within the same game framework, appealing to a broader audience.
The team consisted of two sub-teams, each responsible for designing one version of the game interface. I collaborated closely with other UI/UX Designers on one of the teams.
My role involved leading the ideation and design processes with the use of Adobe XD and Illustrator, ensuring cohesion between our group members, and collaborating to ensure the feasibility of the proposed designs!
I made sure our resources and collaborative tools were consistent as well as making sure we made into our deadlines!
Our approach began with extensive research, including the creation of mood boards to establish the visual tone for our version. Personas were developed to understand the target audience better. We then moved on to controls, wireframes, and prototypes, carefully considering the unique aspects of each version. Key design decisions involved color schemes, iconography, and layout to evoke distinct atmospheres for the two game interfaces.
In shaping Future Fugitives, we immersed the game in a cyberpunk atmosphere, embracing vibrant red, blue, and yellow hues to infuse urgency and futuristic energy. This palette wasn't just visual flair; it guided users through a dynamic interface, enhancing the gaming experience. The sleek, futuristic elements weren't mere embellishments but integral components, characterizing the game's essence. By creating two visually distinct versions while maintaining cohesion, Future Fugitives became a memorable, immersive journey into a cyberpunk survival world where style met substance.
Iterative feedback sessions with potential users led to valuable insights. One surprising change was the adjustment of the gameplay components based on user preferences. Initially, we had a more traditional structure, but feedback suggested a preference for a more streamlined approach, leading to a redesign that improved overall user flow.
Looking back at Future Fugitives, I recognized the value of more extensive user testing throughout the design process. While using Adobe XD for the first time added complexity, it served as a valuable starting point in understanding prototyping tools. The challenges we faced not only led to adaptability and resilience but also sparked a curiosity to explore advanced features in future projects. Future endeavors will benefit from a more iterative approach to user testing, building on the lessons learned and leveraging my newfound proficiency in Adobe XD.
